Wake Tech Basic Skills Department

Wake Tech offers one of the largest Basic Skills programs in North Carolina's community college system, serving students at campus and off-campus sites.

Students must complete a placement test in order to register for GED and Adult High School classes. Please go to the New Students Registering page (see the link to the left) to get information about how to register for placement testing.


GED Seated Classes

Did not complete high school and would like to earn a General Educational Development(GED) degree, or have completed high school, but need to improve their reading, writing, and/or math skills. (ABE)


GED Online 

Prefer to study (GED-Online) for the official GED exams from their home computer.


Link To College

Are you a current GED or Adult High School student who plans to enroll in a college degree program? If so, the Link To College class may be for you!

Adult High School  

Left high school with 5 or less credits left to take and would like to earn an Adult High School (AHS) degree.


AHS Online

Wish to earn an Adult High School (AHS-Online) degree and needs to complete three or fewer courses to earn a high school diploma.


ESL

Want to study English as a Second Language. (ESL)


Compensatory Ed

Compensatory Education (Special Ed) teaches academics and life skills. Documentation of a intellectual disability is required. For information, orientation, and testing call 919-334-1507 or 334-1549. http://basicskills.waketech.edu/CED


HEP

Meet the entrance qualifications of the High School Equivalency Program (HEP) that is made possible through a grant from the United States Department of Education.


WAVES

Wake Adults Volunteering Educational Services (WAVES) is a volunteer program that offers you a chance to help other adults realize their educational dreams.


Immured Populations

Find themselves "behind walls." The Immured Population (IP) classes are for those individuals who are incarcerated, in homeless shelters, Day Reporting Centers, and/or similar settings.
